3/22/1971Shri Hanuman Prasad Poddar, great social reformer, revolutionary and poet, passed away.
1/8/1890Ramchandra Varma, renowned editor, was born. He also has the credit in making the Hindi Dictionary.
4/8/1887Ramnarayan Vishwanath Pathak, famous Gujrati litterateur critic, poet and story writer, was born.
1/6/1932Meenatai Thackrey, social worker, was born.
5/20/1932Bipinchandra Ramchandra Pal, powerful journalist and revolutionary freedom fighter, passed away. He was amongst the trio which was known as ""Lal - Bal - Pal"" during the freedom struggle. He started a newspaper called ""Swaraj"" for the Indians in England. He also edited several other newspapers like ""Tribune"", ""New India"", ""Vande Mataram"", ""Swaraj"", ""Hindu Review"", ""Democrat"", ""Independent Bengali"", etc.
1/4/1954Judge Mehr Chand Mahajan became the Chief Justice of India. He helded this office till 22/12/1954.
9/9/1898Explosive Department of India was established at Nagpur. This is presently under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
