12/22/1939When Britain declared war against the Germans it appealed for help from all political parties. Congress put up some conditions which in other words were the immediate transfer of power. The Viceroy promised to give due consideration to the suggestions of each party and that the dominion status would be given after the war. 12/22/1939Admiral Dom Vasco-da-Gama (c.1469-1524)-I, Portuguese navigator, arrived in India. He sailed around the Cape of Good Hope to Calicut, Kerala with three vessels and was the first Westerner to sail to India from Europe.
7/13/1905Gandhiji opposes Bengal Partition, supports boycott of British goods. During Gokhale Lajpat Rai's deputation to Britain, he appeals to Colonial statesmen to treat India ""an integral part of the Empire"" with consideration. Sanjeevan, weekly from Calcutta, also raised the motto to boycott British Goods.
