Historical Event on 6/3/1947

British Government issued the partition plan, which was worked out by Lord Louis Mountbatten in New Delhi and was accepted by both Muslim League and Congress. The salient features of the partition were, 1) Provices of Bengal and Punjab to be divided., 2) The Indians will form the constitution of India and it will only be applicable in the areas where people accept it., 3) The province of Baluchistan shall adopt proper ways to decide its future., 4) 562 Princely States shall be free to decide their own future., 5) Referendum shall be held in N.W.F.P. and Assam., 6) The Governor General of both countries shall be the executive head of their respective countries., 7) Military assets shall be divided between the two countries and 8) Red Cliff Mission was setup, to demarcate the boundaries of the two countries. India would become free on 15th August 1947.

12/7/1992Religious riots swept across India in the wake of the destruction of the ancient Babri Masjid mosque by rampaging Hindu fanatics in the northern Indian town of Ayodhya yesterday. More than 800 people had been killed and hundreds injured as Muslim and Hindu mobs stabbed, shooted and beat each other. The violence had thrown the government into chaos and had spilled into the neighboring states of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The army had been called out to restore order in Bombay, where street battles left 41 dead. The stock market had been closed down and Parliament forced to adjourn. Advani quit as the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha.
4/4/1898Hiralal Sen and his brother Motilal Sen purchased a Bioscope Cinematographic Machine from London. The first show of imported films was arranged by them at Classic Theatre on April 4, after which they formed 'The Royal Bioscope Co.,' controlled by H. L. Sen & Bros., 85/2, Maszid Badi Street, Calcutta. The Bioscope Company started touring the provinces of Bengal, Orissa and Bihar.
